The Laureate Foundation

Dear Laureate Families, 

The beginning of the school year has seen many changes to the Laureate School. New teachers and staff, new start times, new sports, new students, and an exciting new feeling of possibilities for the future of our school.

There is a new organization working to help guide the enthusiasm we all feel for those possibilities. The Laureate Foundation was born from the desire to unite all parent and volunteer efforts under one organization. In short, we combined the PAC and the Laureate Fund into one group with the intention that the sum would be greater than the individual parts.

While the Foundation has the formidable responsibility to tackle all the vital functions the PAC oversaw in the organization of many school activities and events, the Foundation also takes responsibility for providing input to the longer range planning for the future of the school. Our goal is to strengthen the programs and offerings of the Laureate School to both the school community (the parents and families of Laureate students-referred to as "community" with a little "c") and the Community at large (referred to as "Community" with a capital "C") .

The Laureate Foundation board formed from teachers and parents, with an effort to make sure the interests of every student and family are represented from the toddlers through to the upper school. We have been together since the end of the summer, and already we have met 4 times, which is probably still 4 times too few. However, the individuals on the board are working very hard to maintain all the benefits from PAC and the Laureate Fund, while simultaneously striving to articulate our mission and set goals and direction for our relationship with the school.

We certainly have our work cut out for us.

We know that many parents have wondered where the PAC went, what was the Laureate Fund, and what is the Laureate Foundation doing anyway? The Laureate Foundation board formally apologizes for our limited communication with you up to this point; we have just been very busy getting organized. However, we recognize that maintaining a dialog with you is of critical importance, both because you need to know and because we need your involvement. We value and want your input; we need your help volunteering; and we want to create a strong and vibrant school community so that we can all reach out to the Community at large and do great things.

So please join us in the spirit of bringing us all together. Talk to board members you know, or get to know some if you do not already. Our meetings are open to any parent that would like to attend. Public comment is welcome at the beginning of each of our meetings. Your input is essential to effectively reaching our goals. Out meetings are the first Thursday of every month at 3:45 PM at the school. Our names and email addresses are below. Please attend events and meetings to get to know us and so that we can get to know you. Volunteer for events where ever you can.

Let's bring change to our new school and enrich the lives of the both the school community and Community at large.
